Canada (Moncton)

About two weeks ago we had the opportunity to travel to Moncton Canada. I was so excited because I am always looking to visit new places. My husband always laughs at me because when I know I'm going to be traveling I start packing a couple of weeks before lol. I do this so that packing isn't a hassle for me and I am sure not to forget anything.....

( Canadian sweater and matching hat purchased from Moncton local Walmart)

What made us go to Canada during the winter time?

If you don't know already, my husband grew up in the Bahamas. His local church opened another Church in Moncton a while ago and we went for the Installation of the new pastors. The church is Amazing and if you are ever in Moncton, India or Freeport Bahamas you should definitely visit.

How was the travel there?

Eventful lol ! I am someone who personally loves to travel! We took 3 flights to get there. All of them were about 1-2 hrs. When you like to sleep on the flights like me that tends to go by very fast lol. Even though it makes for a long day, I would rather take a few flights than one really long one because I feel like I need to get up and walk around. Plus sometimes you get to stop in cities that you wouldn't normally visit and pick up very cool souvenirs. It's crazy how over time so many things have changed when it comes to traveling. Now when you go through customs there it wasn't through a person but a machine. Cool, but weird lol.

Unfortunately on the way there my husband started getting a fever and got really sick. Thankfully though many people were praying and we were able to go to a local doctor and get medicine, both for a very affordable price! He's never down and to see him like that was kind of hard, but hey that's why the two become one to help the other. It's moments like these that give us the opportunity to do that. He was there to help serve at his church and even feeling the way that he did, he kept saying "I've gotta go". Talk about commitment. That is one

of the things that I greatly admire about him. With him being sick we didn't get to get out much, but we were both able to relax and the scenery there is absolutely beautiful! Cold but beautiful and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. The people there were AMAZING! Everyone that we met treated us so kindly and were very welcoming.

How was the weather?

It was pretty cold. Confused me a bit first because the degrees was in Celsius and we use Fahrenheit. Hey but what is google for lol? There was snow, lot's of snow and iced too while we were there. To look at it though, it was so beautiful.

What did I pack to wear?

Because I had never been there before I honestly had no idea what pack. I knew that my bag had to be 50 pounds and that I would be able to take 2 carry on bags. That was a challenge for me as I like to pack heavy lol. So I did something different. I have loved black turtle necks this winter and decided to take a couple of those with different jackets that I could match with it. This made my packing a lot easier and I didn't take as much stuff.

Some Canada Traveling Do's and Dont's!

Do

- Take sweaters and maybe some leg warmers, hats and gloves.

- Take a pair of snow boots and warm socks so that your feet won't be cold.

- If you're not used to really cold weather take a travel size medicine

- If you like to pack a lot of clothes carry most of your heavy clothing items in your roll on carry on or duffle bag

- Carry cash as well as card (foreign currency is good)

- Enjoy yourself no matter the reason for your travel! I always do

- Get rest the night before (this is for any travel day to anywhere)

Don'ts

-Overreact

- Underestimate the cold

- Overthink so much that you can't have fun. These are tips not life decisions lol.

- Forget to check for all important documents before leaving for the airport (this is why I pack early lol)

- Leave your phone service on if you didn't pay for international service

What did I personally take from the trip?

While there I was able to learn some things in general and about myself. I learned that I've grown and sometimes it's okay to take a look back and reflect on how far you've come. I learned and realized different fears that I've overcome because my I know that my reliance is never just on my own abilities. I learned that the scripture is very true when it says delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). This one I could go on about, but I will have to save that for another time. And I learned that sometimes the things that we think people think about us are often the things that we think about ourselves making for a great growing opportunity. There are a lot of people who stay places their whole lives, never go anywhere and never move and that's totally okay. But this showed me how much I not only love to travel, but am excited about the places and things that God has for us in this lifetime, all going back to giving him glory. I learned that sometimes we question God about the things that he's equipped and qualified us to do. That'll be for another time too, but sometimes it's just good to reflect. As you can see this is the longest paragraph of my blog because these are the best parts of my vacations. Not that I don't at home, but without all the business of life sometimes we can hear God so much clearer. It's almost like a vacation with him lol. Please do not take this the wrong way as we do have joy, peace, ect. in our everyday walk with Christ. Just sometimes we get so busy that we tend to have some distractions. Again for another time lol; you get the point.

Would I go back?

Most definitely. Maybe not in the very cold of winter unless it just happens that way, but I definitely want to go back and experience there and even more that Canada has to offer. Plus to spend time with my awesome family and new people I got to meet! Like I always say "the best moments can't be captured on camera", so you're just gonna have to go for yourself!
