Church Girl!

What's a church girl? We used this term a lot when I was growing up. I don't know about you, but we defined it as a girl who went to church lol, or a "good girl".

There are so many high expectations for pastors, ministers leaders children. For some it doesn't bother them, others it becomes too much pressure and they become rebellious. I was more of the church girl who wanted to be bad, and do things that everyone else was doing, but couldn't. I tried different things that I wasn't supposed to be doing, but never felt 100% confident in them.

As children we don't always understand why our parents say not to do things, and we become curious. Later wishing that we had listened to them. Speaking from experience, this is the same situation that a lot of young girls in church find themselves in concerning relationships, friendships and major life changing decisions. Some young men in church find themselves walking with them. Losing virginity, pregnancy and more, all while still operating in church and somehow not seeing anything wrong with it.

I always used to wonder how people could do certain things and still operate in leadership at church. Looking back and remembering that I was once in that same position. Ignorant, rebellious and disobedient. God showed and shows so much grace. Yes things and people have to be corrected when they are wrong. Correction is out of love, but don't talk about them if you're not going to do anything or help them see that they are wrong.

A lot of times we blame each other. Men blame women for luring them, and women blame men for pressuring them, but we have to take accountability and responsibility for ourselves. I can only speak for women because I am one. The way that we carry ourselves has a huge impact on how we are perceived. Our mannerisms, the way we talk and most important what we wear. To a certain extent it doesn't matter what people think, but in a huge way it does. Why?, because we represent someone bigger than ourselves. Jesus! The Bible talks about not lusting. We cannot control what problems someone might have, however, we can help them out.

Not only in church, but outside of church. God made men and women to be attracted to each other. But, there's more to you than your body and if you want a man to see that, you definitely have a part in that. God made you, every part of you, and all that he makes is good, so don't think otherwise. If someone isn't willing to see that man or woman, then they're not worth your time.

I don't know about you, but I don't just want people to know me as the "church girl", but I want them to see Jesus. The only way for them to see him is for us to know him, and the only way for us to know him is to spend time with him.
