Don Quixote!- Ballet Met

Updated: Nov 4, 2019

Have you ever heard the term "experience is everything"? Well it definitely is for me! I know that here in Columbus Ohio we have several theaters, but the Ohio theater has to be one of my favorites! It's like going back in time and the details are amazing. All this before actually getting inside of the auditorium.

Just recently I had the opportunity of partnering again with "ballet met" for the ballet Don Quixote! It took me back to my childhood when my godmother used to take us to the ballet performances. Music is one thing that I am very connected with. I love to hear and watch an expression of it through dance. It's not only entertaining, but relaxing.

Don Quixote was a new ballet that I had never seen. It was very entertaining. You have Don Quixote a man who is searching for a woman whom he "found in his dreams". Kitri, a young woman who desires to be with a young man named Basillo. Don Lorenzo, her father and Gamache, a nobleman whom her parents desire for her to marry.

This story is so relatable to life today in so many ways! The part about Kitri and her father really stuck out to me. Often times when we are young and "In love", no one else's opinion seems to matter. For some reason, especially our parents. One thing we have to always remember is that God gave us parents for a reason and now I realize how important it is to take their words and advisement into consideration.

Every parent isn't controlling or manipulative, some parents just want the best for their children. Better than what they had or didn't have. There's nothing wrong with making our own decisions, but we have to definitely do it in a respectful way.

One thing that I love to see in any musical or performing arts event is quality and ballet met definitely has top quality performances. The dancers were great, always together and 100% in their roles. Whether they were one of the main characters or people featured in the back round, they were all perfect and there was chemistry all around.

Some of my favorite parts of the ballet were seeing the children included, even they were great! As well as a dance between Kitri and Basillo where they not only included a guitar in the performance, but at the end he tossed it back, and the other dancer caught it with no problem. Now to you that might not be a big deal, but things are missed like that all the time.

This was an experience that pictures could not do justice, but hey that's the case with most of life's experiences. If you didn't get to enter this giveaway, stay tuned for the next one !
