Have you ever thought back and realized that you care more about what people think than you realize?
Looking back, one of the hardest things for me growing up was choosing. One minute I was super on fire for God, then another minute I was trying so hard to be like everyone else. In the movies when actors/actresses are playing a role, they tend to study the part and get into the character of whoever it is that they are playing. However, playing the character doesn't change who they really are. Often times this is what happens to us. I can only speak for myself when I say that I now realize that I was studying how to be like everyone else, but couldn't deny who God really called me to be. When I say who God called me to be, I don't necessarily mean a teacher, singer, ect. Just being someone who lives for and reflects him. Confidence is the key. If you're not confident in who you're trying to be, nor in who you really are, you find yourself in a really bad place.
So what do you do? You have to ask yourself, do you really want to live like this? As I always say and constantly remind myself, we did not create ourselves. Yes God does give us a choice, but he is the one who knows how things will work out for the best. He is the one who can help you be the best you, that you can be. I've seen so many people live life miserable, unhappy, never doing what God called them to and pass on. That doesn't have to be me and that doesn't have to be you.
While it does matter what people think, it cannot be to the point of you not knowing who you are. God is so amazing and when you choose to accept him, allow him to fill you and open his word, you begin to find out who you are. Whether it's just because of insecurity or because of something bad that happened to you in your life, you don't have to accept the thought that "life will just be how it is".
For every problem, God provides a solution. For every instruction, he provides a promise and guess what? He's right there with you to help you along the way. Choosing to accept Christ was one of the best things that I could have ever done. But everyday choosing to live for Christ is the best thing that I can do and knowing that I have him living on the inside of me to guide me makes things so much better for me.
There is no one that can be you, but you! That sounds simple, but it's so very true.
