Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
A lot of times I've used this scripture when I was in trouble, frustrated and didn't know what to do.But what about when everything seems to be going great? Do we still include God in our plans? In the Bible it says " a man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps". (Proverbs 16:9)
God has gifted us with different things, given us desires for the plan he has for our lives, along with a vision. Sometimes however, we get so excited and into the compliments, money, our emotions and feelings that we forget to keep following God.
I remember as a kid learning to ride a bike. When my parents would help me they would hold on, until they either felt I was ready, or until I told them they could let go. When they did let go sometimes I would fall, over and over until I got it. The difference between that situation and God is he never lets go, he never stops guiding, because he knows that we will always need him. The problem with us is we end up trying to ride without him. Unlike the bike situation, we will keep on falling unless we allow him to guide us.
In everything that we do, God does give us a choice. He isn't controlling, nor is he manipulating, you have a choice. In everything that you do, seek to hear Gods voice. It might be through a song, a person, or just him speaking directly to you. Because we live in this fleshly body, we don't know or understand everything. Which is why in this text he tell us not to lean to our own understanding, but to trust and acknowledge him and he will direct our paths. He'll show you where to go, what to do, what not to do and more. This journey we're daily on isn't meant to be spooky or robotic, but exciting. Knowing that you don't know the future, but you know the one who does, and as long as you're with him he will continue to reveal more and more to you.
