Psalm 23:1 " The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want".
What does a shepherd do? Leads, guides, feeds, pretty much the one you 100% depend on. In reading this text, I stopped at the first verse. " The Lord is my shepherd". Is that something right this moment, just for today that we can say. Have we become Gods sheep? Is he the one leading us? If not, then What is it? Is it frustration from not being able to pay bills, image, bitterness, fear? Some of us are being lead by things that are totally opposite of the Holy Spirit and if we don't recognize it those things will continue to lead us down a bad path that we see as flowers and lilies, but in reality is eating away at you. Sometimes life's circumstances have come so hard, that we have allowed ourselves to be lead by our emotions, which is a dangerous thing.
As hard as is may be sometimes, we have to remember that we are children of God. God isn't a first time parent learning, he knows what he's doing. We are heirs of him and joint heirs with Christ. If your natural father/father figure called you right now and gave you instructions and told you what he would do, you would probably listen. God has given us his word, and told us in his word what we are responsible for doing, but he has also given us himself to be able to live for him because there's no way we could do it on our own. He said that when we worship him, it must be in spirit and in truth. When we allow ourselves to be lead, guided and the sheep of other things, we cannot do that.
The whole chapter of Psalm 23 talks about God being my, your, our shepherd, our guide, protector, our provider. We have to allow him to do that, and not allow other things to get in the way. God desires to daily speak to us. Sometimes we have those moments where circumstances happen and we cannot understand why. Sometimes I believe that God allows things to happen to get our attention, because it's when those things happen that we come running to him. I am grateful that he does that, but at the same time, I don't want him to have to do that. We can save ourselves so much trouble, if we would just listen and obey.
When living under God ,your shepherd, you may wonder, be curious, desire to do things your way, but please trust that he knows best. He created all, knows all and sees beyond what you see with your natural eyes and know in your natural mind.
