Let's take a "Selfie"!

Have you ever had random moments where something clicked and you were like "WOW"? I had one of those the other day. I was talking to my husband after taking a look at myself in the mirror something clicked! As crazy as it may sound I realized that we'll never be able to physically see ourselves the way that we see each other. We will always have to see ourselves through a mirror or some kind of reflection. This reflection is what we use every single day to decide what we will wear, how we'll do our make-up, hair and more. Ultimately our own personal view. This wowed me so much I had to start thinking about my spiritual life and asked myself what kind of reflection am I looking into of myself?

Often times we don't see ourselves the way that God sees us. Let's go back to the beginning for a second. (Genesis 1). God said that everything that he made was and is "GOOD". It says that he breathed life into man and he became a living soul. It says that we were created in his image and likeness. But...all of that means absolutely nothing if we don't know who "he" is. Right? Psalm 139:14 is a scripture that my mother used to tell me all of the time " I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,I know that full well". However, it wasn't until I got older and chose to accept Christ into my life and read for myself that this really meant something to me.

Sometimes instead of being able to see ourselves the way that God sees us, we see ourselves the way that other people do. We see ourselves through others opinions, comparison and so much more. I've been there and that makes for a miserable, tiresome person that you don't want to be. If everything in life was based off of peoples opinions instead of actual truth things would be so chaotic. So I ask you to ask yourself if this is how you feel?

Mirrors get dirty from the spatter and different things that come up against them every single day. Like water, make-up, hair gels, sprays and more. Not that we don't enjoy using these things, but as it pertains to our spiritual life our "make-up" has to come from his word. Does your mirror need to be cleaned? Gods word is truth and we need it daily to renew our minds so that we're not caught up in things that don't agree with it. The way God sees us is priceless and if our reflection of ourselves is constantly dirty and distorted we will never be able to really see ourselves the way that he does and ultimately not be who he's called us to be. There's nothing wrong with criticism and encouragement to do better, but it's how you receive it that matters.

If you've ever seen super hero movies, when they put on the costumes they are confident because they know their capabilities. It's the same with Gods word, except you don't take it off. You have to daily put it on, knowing and believing what is says about you.
