Medieval Times!

We often find ourselves reminiscing about good times in our lives, such as childhood memories. Orlando Florida was one that my parents used to take us to every year as children. It's crazy because you have memories of the basics, but sometimes because it was so far away, you tend to forget the details. This past week I got to experience those same details that I forgot about from my childhood.
If you can't tell already from the picture above, I was super excited about visiting Medieval Times! From the moment we walked in the door, the service was excellent and the people were very friendly. We arrived early, so we were able to visit the village, which I would highly recommend. We visit places a lot, but don't always know the history behind the places that we visit, or understand the reason for their structure in entertainment. Not only was I able to learn how the Medieval Times or the "middle ages" was the time period between the fall of Rome and the beginning of early modern Europe, but I was able to read about some of the things that went on in that time. Such as the way people were tortured and held responsible for law breaking.
We complain so many times about the way people treat us, and the way justice is served, that we don't realize there were a lot of people in past time who had it a lot harder than times now. The thought also crossed my mind that if we had some of the same laws in place now, people might think twice before committing crimes. These were just some of the few of many things that I got to learn about. The pictures don't do it justice, but I have included some below.
At about 6:45 p.m we were invited section by section to our seats. There we were greeted by our amazing waiter who made sure before serving us that none of us had any allergies. The food is included in the show by the way, just in case you're wondering. We were served a three course meal. Tomato bisque with garlic bread as an appetizer which was amazing. Half of a baked chicken, sweet, juicy corn on the cob, and a baked potato for an entree and caramel ice cream for desert. This entire meal was amazingly seasoned, served timely and cooked to perfection.
All while being served the story began on who would become the queens champion. Out of 6 knights our luck one was the black and white knight, who we greatly supported! There are a series of games and they end in jousting. Me not being here since I was a child, I didn't realize that they use real swords, until I saw one of them spark. This took me back to my childhood when my siblings and I used to pretend that we were fighting, imagining that we had real swords. This show is not only family oriented and child appropriate, but good for any age and a date night. This year we visited for my husbands birthday. Not only did I enjoy it in a new way, but he was able to enjoy himself, saying that "he never experienced anything like that before" and would love to bring back his family.
They also celebrate birthdays, and publicly acknowledge them. The queen was very friendly and came down at the end to say hello to everyone and give a little girl a crown. Being a christian sometimes we tend to get very religious and don't learn history, not realizing it's very much connected to the Bible. The more you know, the more you can understand when you read, and this show very much encouraged me to do that.
My knight didn't end up winning, but he still had our support! I'm so glad that I was able to partner with Medieval Times this past week, I would 100% recommend this place, and would take the trip to visit again! With a total of 10 locations, there's no way you could possibly miss it.
