The "I AM" makes me who I AM!

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Whether we realize it or not, the choices we make every day have a huge impact on the way our identity is shaped. There are some people who will live their entire lives not truly knowing who they are or what they were meant to do. What if we didn't have social media, tv, movies, or music? What would shape your identity? What shapes it now?

I like to look at things from a different way, which you might have seen me write about before. As human beings we were born into a world that we didn't create. Every other human being you see, and every living thing that is not man made, God created. Who better to find out about you and your function, your purpose than the one who created you. As I stated before, I struggled so much with my identity. I got "saved" at a young age and wanted to live right and please God, but when everyone else around me didn't a lot of times it made me consider following them. Sometimes I even tried. I was always the person that was supposed to go to the club, but never did. The person who tried to curse and talk about inappropriate things that I didn't fully understand. Even when I made choices that were completely against what God says, those choices never felt 100% comfortable. It even got to the point where I would learn music just to fit in.I then found myself being a hypocrite. When you look back, you see things so much differently than when you were doing them.

I was one of the ones that God said he would "spew out of his mouth", luke warm". Whether we like to admit it or not, there is no paraphrasing, re wording or redefining Gods' word and what he says is Holy. Even for us that are saved now, we have a daily responsibility to (Romans 12) present our bodies as living sacrifices to God, Holy and acceptable to him and not be conformed but transformed. When you choose to serve God because you like how his presence made you feel, or you want to be seen and heard in the church. Or even have some "good morals", but you want to look and act like the world and have no type of relationship with Jesus, you find yourself being this "luke warm" person that I was. We do not get to choose Gods's plan and purpose, he already has and had one before we got here. He does give us free will, but if you want the best, get to know the best.

God gives us a certain life span for a reason. Even though God can redeem it, time isn't something that we can get back, so don't waste it. The Bible says that we were created in the image of God, and the life that we are called to live Jesus led by example. God's so great that we will never know everything about him, but we have to start somewhere. By surrendering our will so that he can show us his, and show us who we are. I am daily learning this.

I am now in a place where I don't need things or people to validate me . When I made the decision to really live for God, and do the things that he's called me to, I realized that I am nothing without him. The gifts he's given me, because they're meant to be used to glorify him,I can do none of it without him and I would never want to. That's not to say that I live this spooky life of not sharpening those gifts, but everything that he's given me I daily give back to him because I want my heart to remain right!

This is a subject that could go on and on. But if you're someone saved or not struggling with your identity, or self worth, I encourage you to give Christ a chance, he gives us so many. You have nothing to loose and an identity to gain. Not only will you grow as a person spiritually, but when you realize that no one can do for you what Christ can and you allow him to, it will increase your confidence, because you become rooted in something stable. Tv, movies, trends, social media, these things will always change, but God never changes. Make a conscious decision, not just to be what we call a Christian, but a daily follower of Christ, so that YOU can say...The "I AM" makes me who I am!
