Talking with a friend recently opened my eyes to something. At times for long periods of time we pray for things to happen, change, get better. Sometimes because we've been praying for something for so long we become consumed in that thing and won't really know what to do when it happens, or after it happens. Sometimes we can even be so excited that we expect the same things instead of more and better. Can you think of something you've prayed for? Whether it's for healing, a friend or family member to come to Jesus, a closer relationship with God, a new job, or an increase in your finances?
In the bible it says that " where much is give, much is required". I know God gives me desires that are in line with his will, and I want to be ready for everything that I ask him for. Not only at times have I prayed for some of the things listed above, but I've prayed and still pray that God will teach me to manage the things that he's given me and show me what to do next when he does answer my prayers. For example, praying for a family member to come to Jesus. Sometimes we pray for it, and forget to continue to pray for them after they do! With an increase in finances, there have been times that I've prayed that prayer and terribly managed what I was given.
There's so much that God desires to do in our lives, spiritually as well as naturally. "His ways are past finding out", but a lot of things he's given us access to be able to find out and to do. He gives us a choice, but he has a plan. One way I can describe it is a car. A car was meant for driving, and has many different functions. To get the best use out of the car, you have to use it for what it was purposed for..to drive. We as human beings, "heirs of God, joint heirs with Christ" have a purpose. The only way to fully live life as intended is to find out who we are and our purpose! Some will go on into eternity doing what they wanted to do, but maybe not what they were purposed and designed to do. That doesn't have to be you!
