You are Beautiful!

Psalm 139: 4I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

When I was a little girl my mother used to always tell me this scripture. I didn't understand it the way that I do now, but I knew then that it meant that God made me special. When I think about then now, I'm filled with such gratitude.

Looking in the mirror as a teenager, even as a little girl, I didn't always feel pretty. I didn't always think that my curly hair was nice, the acne I went through, my darker skin, clothes, big forehead and more I could tell you of what I thought about myself. Why did i think these things? I looked for self gratification in things like relationships, sports, status, titles and more to make me feel good about myself. We usually tend to base our perception of things, including ourselves on what society says is beauty and that's exactly what I did. But what if we didn't have these things. What if fashion wasn't a thing? What if makeup wasn't a thing? What is titles and status wasn't a thing? What if people could only see the inside?

If we go back to the beginning we see that God breathed himself into man and became a living soul. We see that he created male and female in his image. We see that before he formed us, he knew us. We see that his thoughts are precious towards us. All of these are references from scriptures written just for us.

It's when you get to know the father that you really start to understand what beauty really is. If you really take a look at this scripture. To be fearfully made means to be extremely, remarkably, exceptionally made. You see when you really think about it God is great, all powerful, so mighty and more. Everything that he made from the sky to the animals and little bugs he made with purpose and he made great.

He, however made you that much greater, because he made you in his image. It's when you except that whether male or female that you begin to understand who and whose you really are. That you belong to someone far greater than the earthly family you were born into. You understand that he loved you so much that he sent his one and only son to die for you, so that not only would you look like him on the outside, but reflect him on the inside through his Holy Spirit that he sent.

So you see, the next time that you don't feel so good about yourself... remember that God says that you are beautiful. Meaning that you are made in his image, so there can't be anything wrong with you, because there isn't anything wrong with him.
