YOU CAN'T GO BACK!

Romans 8:1-2There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

There's a song that I love that says "I won't go back, can't go back to the way it used to be before your presence came and changed me". This song took me back to a moment in my life when I was really lost. Not because of anything that just happened to me, but because of some of the poor choices that I made. I was almost, if not depressed, really burdened and miserable in life. Part of the reason that I felt the way that I did is because I chose to make certain things more important than God and when those things "failed"me I didn't know what to do. Has this ever been you? I experienced God at a young age and when making certain choices once I made one, it became easier to make more. Here listen to this.........................

There was once a young girl who always listened to her parents. She trusted everything they said and knew that in obeying her parents, she was obeying God. One day the girl saw a lot of her friends on the beach heading out on rafts and boats having an amazing time on the water. She asked her mother if she could go and her mother said "no, it's too dangerous". The young girl begged and begged and after asking so many times she gave up. One day however she decided to go because her friends promised they would stay close to the shore. Before they knew it they were far out to sea and no one knew how to get back. Only to find out that there was usually someone with them who knew how to steer the boat and this person was no where in sight.

Eventually someone realized that they were gone and was able to bring them back to safety. This young girl was me. I knew very well right from wrong and had a strong conviction in my decision making. But one day I decided to make one wrong decision and before I knew it, I was out to sea. It wasn't until I went to a Bible study and a friend prayed for me that I was able to give myself back to God and him change my life forever. That friend God used to bring me back to safety. I remember telling God " I can't do this, I've gone as far as I can and I need you to do the rest". God loves a heart that's surrendered to him, because what you can't do he can. We live in this body that's so curious and sometimes that can get us in trouble.

One of the most amazing things about God is his word that he gives us to help us in not making the same mistakes again. That is not to say that we will never do anything wrong again, unfortunately that is not possible until we are completely changed lol. But when you do make a mistake, allow God to correct you, repent, and know that you are forgiven. If we weren't sinners we wouldn't need a savior! What you choose to surround yourself with is ultimately what you become like. So on a daily basis surround yourself with things like Christ so that when you are not in an environment that reflects him you are able to because he's resident in you. Living in you!
