You must not know he's watching!

Proverbs 15:3

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Do you remember when you were a child and sometimes your parents would day "I've got eyes in the back of my head, I'm watching you". ? For some it might not have bothered you, but for others it kept you on your toes! Even when you wanted to do something wrong, you didn't because you were too nervous about your parents finding out!

Even though I am not proud of it, for me I was always nervous because my parents know a lot of people. It was miserable for me because while I was doing wrong, I would always be nervous in the process. Looking back, I see some of those areas where I didn't honor my parents because I was too busy doing what I wanted to do and creating my own definition of what I wanted to be the "right thing".

On a daily basis, we do this same thing to God. We dishonor him with the way we talk, what we think, our motives and our actions. We forget that he sees everything that we do, both good and bad. Sin is sin, no matter if you've told a lie or committed fornication. It's wrong for us to come down on others, while we're knowingly doing things that displease God. That's not to say that things shouldn't be corrected, because they should. However, we must daily allow God to correct us first.

In the bible it talks about doing everything like unto God, with all of our heart, like working for him. That means not only at church, but on your job, at home, with your kids, in your marriage, and even when no one is watching you because God always is. Even more importantly, he examines your heart. So when you're doing right, make sure that it's to please him and not people.

I challenge you today to ask God to help you in those areas that you might be falling short in. Those things you might ritualistically do out of frustration because you feel you have no choice, or are obligated. Everything isn't always easy, but when you want to complain, just thank him, because you're not where you were before, and things could always be a lot worse.

Remember you, yes YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO GIVES YOU STRENGTH (Philippians 4:13). Strength to do the right things, even when no one is watching, strength to do your work with all diligence, and strength to love even when people treat you wrong :)
